Kveðið úr kirkjuturni is a sound performance in which recordings of Icelandic rímur (kveðskapur) are played through speakers in the tower of Hallgrímskirkja, carrying across downtown Reykjavík.
The performance is conceived as a tribute to Steindór Andersen, who passed away last year, and to the other men and women who have kept Iceland’s rímur tradition alive.
The recordings will be played in short, five-minute intervals several times throughout the day, giving visitors to Reykjavík Culture Night the chance to unexpectedly encounter this unique sound experience in the urban landscape.
