Dagur B. Eggertsson guides visitors through the exhibition Big Little City – Images of Reykjavík in Kjarvalsstaðir on Sunday, 6 September at 2:00 PM.

Dagur was elected to the Reykjavík City Council on behalf of the Reykjavík List in May 2002 and served as Chair of the Planning Council from 2004 to 2006. He was the leader of the Social Democratic Alliance (Samfylkingin) City Council group from 2006 to 2025.

Dagur served as Mayor of Reykjavík from October 2007 to January 2008, and as Chair of the City Executive Council from 2010 to 2014.

He was Mayor of Reykjavík again from June 2014 until 16 January 2024, and subsequently served as Chair of the City Executive Council from 16 January 2024 until January 2025.
