Styrmir Örn Guðmundsson performs a carefully selected repertoire on the steelpan, a musical instrument that originated in Trinidad and Tobago in the early twentieth century. The steelpan is handcrafted from an oil drum and is a percussion instrument featuring a hand-hammered playing surface made of chromed steel, with the notes arranged according to the circle of fifths.
