On Culture Night, Saturday 22 August, the National Museum of Iceland will host a full day of activities for all ages.

The Viking re-enactment group Rimmugýgur will once again set up camp outside the museum, bringing the medieval world to life. The camp will be bustling with activity, offering visitors the chance to experience combat demonstrations, traditional games, archery, food prepared using Viking Age methods, a market, and skilled craftspeople demonstrating historical techniques.

Visitors can also join a special guided tour with historian and costume specialist Guðrún Hildur Rosenkjær of the exhibition "A Voyage in History – The Bridal Costume", as well as enjoy a family sing-along featuring songs about dogs and cats.

The festivities begin at 12:00 noon, with continuous medieval activities running until 5:00 p.m.

The museum's exhibitions will be open throughout the day, and the museum shop will offer a wide selection of unique products. Admission is free, and we look forward to welcoming visitors of all ages for one of the highlights of the Icelandic summer.
