Artist Talk - Alfa Rós Pétursdóttir

Alfa Rós welcomes visitors and discusses her exhibition Among Them (Á meðal þeirra), currently on view at Gallerí Fold.
Alfa Rós Pétursdóttir is a visual artist who works primarily with textiles and fibers. In her work, she explores texture, form and color as a way to approach emotional and sensory experiences.
She draws her material from everyday life, where small and large events, uncertainties and challenges are intertwined with social circumstances and personal experiences.
"In this exhibition, I reflect on how the individual can be an integral part of many people – a society, a group or a system – and how we are intertwined with the whole, but can also experience ourselves as invisible or even lost within the crowd. This tension is connected to the Icelandic mountain landscape, where forms and surfaces offer both clear and unclear boundaries. The landscape thus becomes a metaphor for the existence of the human being within a larger whole – constantly present, but not always visible."
