Come and join us at the Hamraborg Festival!

Hamraborg Festival is an annual, vibrant, week-long celebration of art and community in the heart of Kópavogur. This year's festival is the 6th edition, and will run from August 28th to September 4th, marking the end of summer with a program of exhibitions, performances, workshops, concerts and public events – open to everyone, free of charge.

Each year, art spills from almost every corner of the neighborhood, inviting residents and visitors alike to explore and celebrate art in all its forms. One might stumble upon artworks while running errands such as picking up groceries, or choose to experience the full program by following the festival map. The festival is built in close collaboration with the local community, with many works responding to the architecture, history, and everyday life of the Hamraborg area. Over the years, art has spread throughout Hamraborg’s cultural venues, shop windows, cafés, offices, and public spaces, such as Catalina, Gerðarsafn, EuroMarket, Polo Vape Shop, Kópavogur Library and more.

This year’s program opens on Friday August 28th with a concert and a celebration, followed by a Performance Night at Gerðarsafn. Throughout the festival, exhibitions and public artworks by local as well as international artists will be on display during the festival week. The program also includes a variety of events, walks and family-friendly workshops for different age groups.

Overall, more than 50 events are spread throughout the festival: exhibitions, concerts, performances and various other art happenings.
