Laufkvist: Plantan listening party and release concert!

The 16th of August Laufkvist will digitally release their very first album, Plantan! 🌱

The day before we will celebrate with a listening party and concert at Smekkleysa 🥳 🌿

- 19:00: Doors open

- 19:30: Listening party starts

- 20:10: Concert starts

The concert will start with a few new songs and then the album is going to be performed from start to finish.

It’s going to be the biggest Laufkvist ensemble EVER with seven people playing.

Rósa Sif Welding Kristinsdóttir - Drums & more

Bergey Freysdóttir - Clarinet & more

Jón Logi Pálma - Guitar and violin

Laufkvist is a nature-loving project that plays folky bossa nova music about great forests, seasons changing and wonderful human connections. It was founded in 2024 and is a collaborative project where lovely tunes and rhythm are woven around the songwriting of Francis Laufkvist. Other prominent members of the band have been Víf Ásdísar Svansbur, Rósa Sif Welding Kristinsdóttir and Silja Höllu Egilsdóttir, with more people joining the performances of the project here and there.

Plantan is their first studio album and like its name, meaning the plant, it has been slowly growing since the project started. It focuses on the theme of embracing change and figuring out how to connect with people, using the imagery of plants, wind, and mountains to express those feelings. It's an album in two parts, one in English, the other Icelandic, divided by an instrumental track. Now as the plant has grown and the album will be released, this event will be somewhat of a harvest celebration.
