Jazz í Djúpinu // Hilmar Jensson & Matthías Hemstock

Hilmar Jensson and Matthías Hemstock invite audiences on a musical journey, performing a carefully selected collection of favorite songs while also venturing into free improvisation along the way.

Hilmar and Matthías first met in elementary school and have since performed together in numerous and varied musical projects. When they were taking their first steps into jazz, Djúpið was one of Reykjavík’s leading concert venues. It is a pleasure for them to return to its stage and once again experience the same exciting atmosphere that characterized the venue in those days.

The Jazz í Djúpinu concert series takes place on Thursday nights at 8:30 PM during the fall of 2026. Djúpið is the basement of the restaurant Hornið (Hafnarstræti 15, 101 Reykjavík). The entrance to Djúpið is at the back, facing Bæjarins beztu. The entrance to the basement opens at 8:00 PM. Ticket price is 4.000 ISK, tickets are sold at the entrance and in advance. The concert series is organised by the Jazz Department of FÍH. Please note that there is no wheelchair access at the venue.
